Children Without Limits, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation dedicated to working with inner-city youth on using multimedia and the new communication technologies and platforms in their personal life and their coming business career.
The business world is aggressively moving to new methods of communicating with their several audiences. Sales messages are sent with video images by cell phones. Medical information is distributed to patients on iPods. Employee testing and training are made available on the Web and through game consoles.
Brochures are still used but, increasingly, printed text is yesterday’s method – the new technologies are more effective and efficient. There will be an increasing need for the business workforce to know how to incorporate video into their daily business life – as a marketing tool, as a vehicle for corporate reporting, as a communication method that is better than text.
Those who know how to use those technologies for business as well as personal communication will prosper. Those who don’t, unfortunately, will be marginalized.
Our goal is to bring to inner city youth the world of writing, storytelling, filmmaking and organization; then mentor them through the process of hands-on video projects that simultaneously tell the stories of their lives while teaching them the art and science of telecommunication, goal-setting and teamwork. We have the assistance of both students and faculty at Ball State’s Digital Intermedia Arts and Animation Center, IUPUI School of Informatics and are working with IPS high schools and several charter schools.
The curriculum continues to be modified to meet the needs of the students. Volunteers experienced in videography and editing have been engaged to give instruction. Field trips have been arranged to local live theatres and TV stations to provide a broad picture of career opportunities. The 36-week study cycle ends with a Film Festival showing the collective works of all participant students who, hopefully, are empowered with new technical and leadership skills.
Maybe you thought using video to deliver your several messages on the internet was too expensive, or just too complex a process. CWL Commercial is a new service we're implementing that answers both of those issues - in your favor.
